Donna Latson Gittens, founder and principal of causemedia, inc., was honored at Fenway Park on Sunday evening, April 22, by the Boston Red Sox with the first annual Jackie Robinson Award for Most Valuable Diverse Business Partner. This recognition comes on the 60th anniversary of Jackie Robinson breaking the color barrier in Major League Baseball.

causemedia, inc., an advertising and social marketing  firm dedicated to “building the community using the media” based in Newton, MA,  has been a partner to the Red Sox organization since 2003.  According to Red Sox President and CEO, Larry Lucchino, causemedia, inc. has helped generate more than $1 million for the Red Sox Foundation. “In recognition of the extraordinary contributions of Jackie Robinson we think it is most befitting to recognize causemedia, one of our Diverse Business Partners, which has benefited and contributed to Robinson’s legacy,” said Lucchino. “The Red Sox appreciate the outstanding work of Donna Latson Gittens and her firm, causemedia. The Diverse Business Partner program, an economically driven business initiative, was established in 1998 by Major League Baseball Commissioner Allan “Bud” Selig.  It was founded to cultivate new and existing partnerships with minority and women owned businesses by increasing opportunities for minorities and women to participate in the procurement activities of Major League Baseball.
